Colophon: "Pierre Sala's Book of love. This fine art facsimile volume is a faithful recreation of the original illuminated manuscript, Stowe MS 955, now preserved at the British Library in London. It was published under the auspices of the following patrons: Sir Anthony Kenny ... Philippe Durey ... Dr. Karl Dachs ... This work has been published in a single edition limited to 980 copies worldwide and numbered in Arabic numberals. 290 copies are provided with a decorated carrying case corresponding to the original. 80 copies which are not destined for sale have been reserved for reference and archive purposes, and are numbered in Roman numerals. The photolithographs were produced and printed by the facsimile department at the workshops of Sticher art printers, Lucerne. The facsimile was handbound in leather and velours at the bookbinder workshops of Buchbinderei Burkhardt in Mönchaltorf near Zurich. The carrying case was handmade in leather in Tuscany, following the traditional method of leather handicraft; it is an exact replica of the original, even to the finest lines of the embossed gold decoration."
Commentary by Janet Backhouse and Yves Giraud.
