Abstract:

"My place in New Canaan is - a diary of an eccentric architect." Thus begins a fascinating look into the mind of Philip Johnson. Always on the forefront of stylistic change, his home in New Canaan, Connecticut - Glass House - is now a National Historic Landmark. The building has no walls; an accompanying guest house has no windows. This program visits Glass House, its gallery that houses an extensive collection of contemporary art on revolving walls, and another project that Johnson calls his "latest folly" for his intention to build it without straight lines. Viewers witness Johnson at work on the sculptural building from its initial stages to its completion.
