Subjects include Chief Secretary of Ireland Lord Frederick Cavendish and Undersecretary Thomas Burke, who were assassinated in 1882; Chief Secretaries of Ireland W. E. Forster and George Trevelyan; the fifth Earl Spencer, Lord-lieutenant of Ireland, and Countess Spencer; Judge William O'Brien; Cardinal Newman; and Father Thomas N. Burke.

Also present are portraits of several members of Parliament; Catherine Gladstone, wife of Britain's Prime Minister; and actress Mrs. Bernard Beere, among other subjects. The album also contains a group portrait of some of Queen Victoria's children and grandchildren, including Edward VII and George V, taken in Germany circa 1880.
