Abstract:
Photographs and reproductions of portraits of Rudyard Kipling, his family and places where Kipling lived and worked. Includes portrait of Kipling in his study at "The Elms" in Rottingdean, England reproduced from a painting by his cousin Philip Burne-Jones; reproductions of portraits from the Kipling Journal of his parents John Lockwood Kipling and Alice McDonald Kipling; photographs of Kipling's daughter Josephine and son John; group portrait of Kipling and classmates and views at the United Services College School in Westward Ho!, Devon; views of Belvedere House and the facilities of the Pioneer and Press in Allahabad, India and portraits of Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Hill. Includes a view of the house of the Taylor family in Beaver, Pennsylvania where Kipling stayed in 1889 and formed a life-long friendship with Dr. Taylor's daughter Edmonia, later Mrs. S.A. Hill. Also portraits of the Hill's in Allahabad. Also includes views in London of the Embankment Chambers and photographs and postcard of Kipling's home Batemans, in Burwash, Sussex. Also many views of Naulakha, Kipling's home in Brattelboro, Vermont including one with Kipling in his study; gardens, and an exterior panorama view.
