Abstract:

The 1913 trip (four weeks) started from the end of the railroad in Independence (Owens Valley), crossed the Sierra Nevada range going west, and came out near Shaver Lake from where the group got a ride out on the San Joaquin & Eastern Railroad.

The 1914 trip (three months) started and ended on the west side of the Sierra Nevada and was based in Tuolumne Meadows of Yosemite National Park. There were preliminary camps in Yosemite Valley (with photographs of the 4th of July parade) and Tenaya Lake. The photographer's brother, Edward C. Lipman, is shown on this disk.

The 1925 trip also started and ended on the west side, the first photograph showing the Black Kaweah from Alta Peak, and the last at Ward Lake near Florence Lake. There were climbs of Mt. Woodworth, North Palisade, and Mt. Goddard. The participants are clearly identified on these photographs.
