Abstract:
Widow Cimino (Bette Davis) is a former pianist and music store owner who has retreated into her own world since the death of her husband. Her sons wish to put her away in a home, but with the love and support of her granddaughter, she goes to St. Hills Hospital, where she at first resists help from the staff. But her feisty attitude and determination become sparked when an upright piano is placed in the hospital. She is able to regain her sanity and return to a normal life, but her biggest battle still lies ahead when she finds out that her home and belongings have been sold and that a complete stranger is in charge of her life savings.
