Abstract:

Artist Pablo Picasso (1881-1973) was one of the greatest painters, printmakers, and sculptors of the 20th Century, and a founder of Modern Art. This unique film, a Cannes Film Festival Selection, reveals unknown aspects of Picasso's work and personality, and contains images of over 600 of his paintings, sculptures, and ceramics, many never before seen in public. In an unprecedented collaboration, Picasso gave filmmaker Edward Quinn unrestrained access to film him in Mougins, France, where Picasso lived and worked. Both a biography and an documentary on art history, the film uses many flashback sequences showing the mutations and evolution of his work in progress, as the film chronologically follow his works and life in parallel.
