Abstract:

In keeping with Aboriginal traditions, these plays all employ flexible concepts of place and time, while being focused on the problems besetting the Aboriginal community in the latter half of the twentieth century. Oral literature, music, and dance are the traditional storytelling forms in Aboriginal culture, here employed in a distinctly Western form. These varied works showcase the continuity of tribal ways, while insisting that in tales of Aboriginal lives, it is best to let the people themselves do the telling.
