Abstract:

Elephants can remember: "While Poirot investigates a famed psychiatrist's murder, crime novelist Ariadne Oliver looks into a couple's mysterious death." -- The Big Four: "With the world on the brink of war, Poirot finds himself drawn into a case marked by political intrigue and international connections. -- Dead man's folly: "Fiction turns to fact when a young woman is killed at a "murder hunt" devised by Ariadne Oliver." -- The labours of Hercules: "Poirot journeys to the Swiss Alps to lay a trap for an infamous art thief." -- Curtain: Poirot's last case: "After returning to Styles with Hastings, Poirot confronts a killer and his own conscience as he tries to stop a series of murders."--Container.

"It's the end of an era as Agatha Christie's brilliant and beloved Hercule Poirot investigates his final cases in these five feature-length mysteries. The persnickety sleuth, played to perfection by David Suchet, relies on his "little grey cells" and friends Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser), Assistant Commissioner Japp (Philip Jackson), and Miss Lemon (Pauline Moran) to solve complex crimes."--Container.

darker than necessary

by Tom2718 (WorldCat user published 2015-11-26) Fair Permalink

"The labours of Hercules" is too dark: a psychopathic killer, murdering for pleasure.

These, done more than 20 years after the series with David Suchet started, aren't as much fun as the early ones.
