Script: Written in cursive Anglicana; marginalia from 15th and 16th centuries throughout.
Decoration: Rubricated initials, underlining, and paragraph marks throughout. Highly elaborated manicule at 96v.
Binding: Bound in calf, late 18th or early 19th century.
Origin: Marginal glosses would suggest that this manuscript either was copied or arrived at a very early date at Furness Abbey, a major Cistercian monastery in Cumbria.
Shelf-mark: Urbana, IL, University of Illinois Rare Book & Manuscript Library, Pre-1650 0132.
Provenance: 1. Furness Abbey, as per underlining at 158v and marginal glosses throughout -- 2. Front paste-down signed "Powis" in 19th-century hand, indicating possession of Powis Castle -- 3. Offered for sale by Sotheby's, 20 March 1923 -- 4. Offered for sale by Thomas, 1958 -- 5. Purchased from Kraus, 12 November 1959.
