Abstract:

Three award-winning films that increase awareness of how black writers, artists, and freedom fighters contributed to our American cultural tradition. First work: Readings and dramatizations from the poetry and other writings of Paul Laurence Dunbar. Second work: Presents many of the works shown in the exhibition Two centuries of Black American art, with brief biographical sketches of the male and female artists included. Third work: A non-narrated portrayal of the lives and accomplishments of Frederick Douglass, Harriet Tubman, and Denmark Vesey in their fight against slavery.
