"Pottery has been discovered in the Aleut midden sites on Amaknak Island (Dutch Harbor). The discovery was made by Lieutenant A.R. Cahn, U.S.N.R., who salvaged considerable material from sites or parts of sites destroyed in the course of military construction. Lieutenant Cahn presented a large collection of Aleut artifacts (including pottery) to Chicago Natural History Museum"--P. 1.
