Abstract:

At about 20 years of age, the body's defenses reach their peak strength-but danger can still strike even the most robust system. This program reinforces that unfortunate irony, exploring medical challenges and complications occurring in otherwise healthy young adults. Hit by a speeding car, Rubinda receives almost immediate help-from medics and from her own body's defenses. Charlotte has a congenital heart condition but refuses to let this interfere with having a child. Viewers will discover what her body goes through as a result. And Scott, diagnosed with liver disease, is lucky enough to have a first cousin for a transplant donor. The program shows what happens inside both of them during the grueling 17-hour operation.
