Abstract:

This book describes how the methods and controls applied in the natural sciences have been directed to examining telepathy, communication with the dead, telekinesis, poltergeists and miracles. While these stringent tests expose much that is false or capable of straightforward explanation, they reveal that human beings do possess extra-sensory perceptions known under the general heading of "psi-factor". Besides explaining this and other dicoveries, this book shows that the Catholic Church, far from avoiding the issue, applies the same objective criteria to such phenomena as stigmatics and the miracles that take place at Lourdes and other shrines. This book reveals how, from a dispassionate examination of the facts, there emerges a way out of the prison of dogmatic materialism in which modern thought has lain for so long. [Back cover].
