Abstract:

The first edition of Quest was published when Infield was forty-three years old, that is, before he became famous. At the time, he was an unknown physicist, newly married, and starting his second year as instructor at the University of Toronto. His only claim to public notice was that he had written a book together with Albert Einstein (The Evolution of Physics, Albert Einstein and Leopold Infield, New York, 1938). The second part of this edition of Quest, written when Infield was sixty-seven, tells of the events of the quarter century since the first edition was published, including the sensational events that attended his leaving of Canada to return to his native Poland.
