Collection (1752-1954) consists of correspondence and literary papers of author, scholar, and educator, Raymond Dexter Havens.

Included are correspondence, newspaper clippings, reviews, reprints, original 18th century newspapers, facsimiles of newspapers, and materials which relate to business matters with booksellers.

Approximately 1000 letters from students, colleagues, and friends are addressed to Havens. The letters reflect the long, scholarly career of Havens, and offer an insight into areas of academic life such as writing, editing, publishing, and teaching. Drafts, notes, and reprints of Havens' articles indicate his interest in Romantic Literature and his role as a writer.
