Abstract:

Presents the story of Ronald Reagan's life with commentary by contemporaries, historians and members of his family. Part 1 examines his childhood and youth, his motion picture career, his early marriages and marriage to Nancy Reagan, his entrance into politics and election as governor of California. The film continues with his failed bid for his party's nomination as its candidate for the presidential election of 1971, his election to the presidency in 1981, the assassination attempt, and concludes with his economic policy and defense spending buildup which put the nation in deep economic trouble.
