Abstract:

Reality TV to Real Life: Nutrition & Exercise Strategies for Kids looks at the relationship between reality television and health and weight loss. The video reviews a number of diet-related reality shows and discusses the pros and cons of each. The video also details the underlying limitations of such shows and reviews the steps that would need to be taken to bring a much-needed dose of authenticity to such shows. In addition, the video examines what health/fitness professionals could do with all of the 'stuff' on television to put it to good use with the individuals with whom they're working to help them to successfully manage their weight. The video also covers the two primary factors that individuals who want to lose weight are often lacking - skills and correct information.
