Abstract:

Records documenting the activities of the Peabody Conservatory of Music, 1866-1987.

Series A (9.4 ft., 1874-1967) is comprised of general files, general and administrative correspondence, and Ford Foundation American Conductor's Project records. Series B (4.4 ft., 1964-69) includes institutional correspondence, general files, financial aid to education, and documentation for the dormitory-cafeteria-garage complex designed by Edward Durell Stone. Series C (11.25 ft., 1969-77) contains general files, administrative and departmental memoranda, and education agency files. Series D (30 ft., 1868-1978) is comprised of general files containing general and administrative correspondence, scholarships and assistantships, class schedules, committee meeting minutes, and student recital information.Included also are 44 bound volumes containing early expenses and receipts, professors' salaries, tuition, faculty attendance, and professors' cntracts. Series E (2.5 ft., 1962-63, 1975-77) includes general and professional organization files. Series F (8.1 ft., 1966-77) contains general files, faculty files, and professional organization files. Series G (12.7 ft., 1900-77) consists mainly of student files and general record cards. Series H (5.4 ft., 1962-77) consists of production work files, general files, and press releases. Series I (5 ft., 1971-79) includes administrative and donor correspondence, annual giving lists of contributors and final reports, and general files.

Series J (2.1 ft., 1966-74) contains general files composed of general correspondence, special events, and news releases. Series K (.6 ft., 1968-70 includes general files containing correspondence, budgets, student dormitory contracts and room assignments, dormitory rules and regulations, and student organization information. Series L (3.3 ft., 1900-79) is comprised of 12 volumes of music accession records and general accounts. Series M (3.3 ft., 1969-79) is restricted, containing student teaching files. Series N (.8 ft., 1958-77) includes general correspondence, by-laws, minutes, and newsletters. Series O (10.6 ft., 1962-77) consists of course syllabi, general correspondence, contracts, class schedules, publicity, and workshop information. Series P (1.5 ft., 1967-73) is comprised of original project proposal, budgetary information, class rosters, publicity, student enrollment statistics, and evaluation reports. Series Q (1.25 ft., 1945-75) includes NASM and Middle States Assoc. accreditation reports. Series R (15 ft., 1901-81) consists of scrapbooks maintained on a yearly basis. Series S (17 ft., 1862-1987) is comprised of bound and unbound concert programs. *Subgroup, the Preparatory Department (360 ft., 1866-1982), is described in a separate record.
