The collection contains reports written by the department head or other faculty members of the Department of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to the president of the Institute describing developments in the architecture curriculum; contacts with European academic programs; assessments of students; and information about faculty. Also included is a list of teaching staff in the department between 1869 and 1916. The reports were written by William R. Ware, 1871-1876; Theodore M. Clark, 1886-1887; Francis W. Chandler, 1888-1911; and William H. Lawrence, 1912-1916.
