Albums containing shapes made of cut, woven, folded, twisted, and pricked paper, and wooden slats done as exercises by teacher trainees at the school; a songbook, inscribed Nora Archibald Smith, containing children's songs, ca. 1880s-1890s, both clippings and in manuscript. Of note are songs by Kate Douglas Wiggin, and songs with words by the educator Frederick Froebel. Letters, ca. 1880s-1910s, among teachers at the school, particularly Marie Light Plisé; Nora Archibald Smith, Kate Douglas Wiggin, and Harriet Alexander are also represented. Financial documents including letters, 1934, relating to Plisé's inheritance from Nora A. Smith's estate; brochures relating to the California Training School and the California Froebel Society; clippings; a manuscript of an address delivered to the Training School's class of 1886; Plisé's application, 1891, to become certified as a teacher; a contract, 1896, signed by Nora A. Smith, giving Plisé and Kate Banning equal authority to conduct the Training School; and miscellaneous documents are included. An annual statement, 1897, of the Silver Street Kindergarten Society is also included.
