Abstract:

"One afternoon, shadows started to flicker along the corridors of The Red Hotel in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and both guests and staff heard persistent grinding noises. They said it gave them "the freesons" - or goosebumps. Some believed that Mrs Slider and her son, Shem, had returned. And because a few of the older residents of the waterfront district still harboured a strong suspicion about what Mrs Slider and Shem had done together, those older residents crossed themselves and whispered a prayer for protection ... Some months later, unredeemed hippy Sissy Sawyer is braving the rain to smoke on her veranda, when her step-nephew Billy drops by, bringing his new girlfriend, T-Yon to meet her. But this isn't just a casual visit, Sissy has an uncanny ability to read the future using her special Tarot cards, and T-Yon wants her help. For she's been having terrible dreams about her older brother, Everett, ever since he started restoring an old hotel in Baton Rouge ... "--Publisher description.
