"The following is a report on the case of Dr. Samuel A. Mudd, accused in the murder of Abraham Lincoln. The President has been requested to declare Dr. Mudd innocent, and after an intensive study of the assassination, I feel that this wish should be granted. This report is the result of my own studies in the case, and I hope that it will help the efforts being made in the doctor's behalf."--Leaf .
