Abstract:
West seeks ideas for inspiring and reinvigorating black America. He begins the dialogue by asking, "How do we talk about hope with all the suffering and the pain in the world today? What are the sources of hope?" Maya Angelou makes the point that "one other word for hope is love." One of the recurring themes of this dialogues is that even though black poverty is an American problem, blacks have risen up from hard times in the past and will continue to be a major part of this country.
