RT Book, Whole DB /z-wcorg/ DS http://worldcat.org ID 18671226 LA English T1 Results of a mathematical water quality model of the Lower Fox River, Wisconsin A1 Patterson, Dale,, YR 1973 AB A water quality model has been developed and run for the Lower Fox River, Wisconsin. The model considers carbonaceous and nitrogenous BOD, photosynthesis, and respiration, and sludge oxygen uptake to be the important sources and sinks of dissolved oxygen. The model assumes steady state conditions in regard to river flows and waste loading. Complete mixing of waste inputs is also assumed to calculate the daily average dissolved oxygen profile of the river. Verification runs show very good agreement with observed data from three surveys conducted by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Prediction runs made with projected river loadings were also done to indicate the river's response to the proposed effluent limits. These predictions show the proposed water quality standards may not be met during certain low flow and nighttime conditions.
