Notes: "This story is one of eleven that first appeared in book form under the title Main-travelled roads which was published in 1891. Several of these including "The return of a private" had first appeared in Harper's weekly and The arena magazine"--Page vii.
"This book was printed at the Yellow Barn Press at Council Bluffs, Iowa in the winter of 1997-1998 for publication in 1998. It has been set in 14 point Monotype Perpetua at the M & H Type Foundry in San Francisco. The paper is Zerkall, a mould-made sheet from Germany. The Campbell-Logan Bindery in Minneapolis bound the book. Neil Shaver designed the book and was also the pressman using a Vandercook Universall III. There are 150 copies of this edition"--Colophon.
LC has copy number 67. Publisher's prospectus laid in.
