Abstract:

This collection includes photocopies of letters from Charles Aubrey, trader and then Blackfoot Reservation farmer and freighter, in the Browning, Mont., area, 1905-1908, and correspondence by or about Native Americans, 1905-1929, mostly in Montana and a few from other areas including Nebraska, Canada, and Oklahoma. Some of the Native Americans writing from Montana are White Shield, Little Whirlwind, Patrick Spotted Wolf and Anna Spotted Wolf from Ashland, Yellow Kidney from the Holy Family Mission near Browning, and Chief Laban Little Wolf from Busby.
