Abstract:
Papers of Boston lawyer and governor of Mass. (1947-48) Robert F. Bradford, who also served as Middlesex Co. (Mass.) district attorney (1938-45) and Lieut. Gov. of Mass. (1945-46). The bulk of the collection concerns his political campaigns of 1944, 1946, and 1948. There are also general papers related to his three public offices, and 30 scrapbooks of newspaper clippings documenting the political career of Maurice J. Tobin (vols. 1-4) and of Bradford (vols. 5-30). The personal papers include Bradford, Chamberlain, and Browne family correspondence, personal papers of Rebecca C. (Browne) Bradford, school papers of R.F. Bradford produced at Buckingham, Browne & Nichols, Harvard College, and Harvard Law School; genealogical matter on the Bradford and Browne families; line-a-day diaries by Bradford for 1957-64 and 1966; a 1943 diary of Arthur H. Williams as director of the Army and Navy Recreation Center (Boston); and travel records of R.F. and Rebecca Bradford from 1949-71.
