Fragment:

The Robert Louis Stevenson collection consists of printed material, correspondence, page proofs, manuscripts, and photographs related to the publication of the 26 volume Vailima Edition of the Works of Robert Louis Stevenson in 1921, collected while William D. Howe was an editor at Charles Scribner's Sons. Much of the correspondence is between Howe and Lloyd Osbourne, Robert Louis Stevenson's stepson, who provided much of the original material, including photographs and manuscripts, which appeared in the Vailima edition. Other correspondents include staff at the Heinemann Publishing house, publishers of the Vailima edition in England, and Frank Doubleday, of Doubleday and Page Company. The collection also includes two pieces in Stevenson's own hand, including a poem entitled "The Far Farers," and a three page outline for Part Four of "The South Seas," a variant title for In the South Seas, published in 1896. Also included is a typescript of a fragment of "Historical Associations," a poem which appeared in A Child's Garden of Verse.
