摘要:

The collection consists of journals or daybook accounts which are chronological records of daily business. There are ledgers into which the accounts from the journals are transferred and arranged under the name of the purchaser. There are shop accounts for services such as blacksmithing, shoemaking, carpentry and general repair work. Items recorded include agricultural tools, clothing, household goods, personal items, and rum. White males, women and African Americans make up the customers. Debts to the store were paid with cash, personal bond, sundries, tobacco or services such as weaving. Tobacco sales in Petersburg, Lynchburg and elsewhere were recorded for customers and the Wilson family. Credits were given to individuals for wagonning tobacco to market and for back loads.
