Abstract:

The fundamental process of increasing skeletal muscle size and strength following eccentric exercise is believed to be well-characterized. However, current studies are beginning to evaluate the role of stem cells other than satellite cells in the cellular and physiological adaptations observed in skeletal muscle following exercise. Role of Stem Cells in Exercise-Induced Skeletal Muscle Adaptations provides an overview of recent evidence that stem cells residing in muscle play an important role in exercise-induced adaptations.
