Der Autor fragt in einem ersten Schritt nach der Relevanz dieser keineswegs selbstverständlichen Prioritätsthese und ihrer Diskussion in Physik VIII. Er zeigt, dass Aristoteles' Argumente für diese These - im Gegensatz zur bisherigen Deutung - eine wesentliche Funktion im größeren Kontext von Physik VIII und der aristotelischen Naturphilosophie allgemein erfüllen.
