Abstract:

Third episode of an adaptation of Alex Haley's Roots, in which he traces his family's history from the mid-18th century when one of his ancestors, Kunta Kinte, was captured and sold into slavery. The series follows the struggle for freedom which began with the young man's abduction and was continued by his descendants.

During the time of the American Revolutionary War, Kunta Kinte escapes slavery again, and is crippled by slave catchers. He marries, and sacrifices his freedom to care for his wife and their newborn daughter, Kizzy.
