Abstract:

Fourth episode of an adaption of Alex Haley's Roots, in which he traces his family's history from the mid-18th century when one of his ancestors, Kunta Kinte, was captured and sold into slavery. The series follows the struggle for freedom which began with the young man's abduction and was continued by his descendants. Kunta Kinte's daughter Kizzy is sold at age 16 to a new "Master" and bears his son, who grows up to become the fun-loving Chicken George. Kizzy, who has a strong resolve to keep her heritage alive, returns to her birthplace and learns of her parents' fates.
