A wonderful horse adventure   (2009-07-18)
Rusty is the third book in the Morgan Horse series. It follows Heather, the main character of the series, as she delves into a new equine discipline, jumping. She borrows Chauncy's (the farm owner) horse Rusty, a seasoned jumper, and shows him in jumping shows. Heather starts out doing well, but then she begins to doubt herself and her abilities and soon Rusty and she start falling in the ribbons. It isn't until Heather meets Nicholas, a far more experienced rider/jumper. Nicholas helps Heather overcome her fears and doubts.
This story very nicely shows that when working together, great things can be accomplished. It isn't preachy, or boring. Instead, the author educates her young readers through a fun adventure. What can happen when you work together with a friend is shown in a very sweet way. There is plenty of tension as Heather and Rusty race around the jump courses.
Quill says: You'll learn all about horse jumping and horses when you read Rusty.
