First off we are going to call this one rare since there are very few references to it online nor are there multiple copies for sale online. - Also it is not available online as a txt or pdf file. - In the preface by the author is the statement that he does not pretend to "furnish a book of perfect poetry" but only "Designs to add something to sacred literature that may be interesting and instructive to those who value moral and religious subjects..." - Not the sort of poetry that makes one scratch one's head and ask, "What the heck does that mean?", but instead is clear and precise as to it's meaning. We found portions of it to be quite inspirational but as to whether it is 'good' poetry we cannot say because we are not experts in any way shape or form. We can say that what we read of it we liked.- The complete title says quite a bit about the subject matter and the contents are titles that include: John the Beloved, Capernaum, Gethsemane, The Cross of Christ and Woman, Unbelief, Faith and Perfect Peace. 11 Poems total.
