Letters to Benson John Lossing, 1869-1871, discuss Lossing's "Pictorial field-book of the war of 1812," Lossing's new magazine "American historical record and repertory of notes and queries," his son Francis Samuel Drake's "Dictionary of American Biography," and an article on subscription books for Lossing's magazine.

The collection also contains an engraving by Stephen Alonzo Schoff mounted together with an autograph.
