In our research of how death is portrayed in movies, this movie came up due to its genre of war. While many deaths are in the movie, we focused on the aspect of how the death of the general (played by Tom Hanks) was considered okay, as he had finished his mission and led a fulfilling life. ... In our research of how death is portrayed in movies, this movie came up due to its genre of war. While many deaths are in the movie, we focused on the aspect of how the death of the general (played by Tom Hanks) was considered okay, as he had finished his mission and led a fulfilling life. It is also interesting to note that it many of us consider it natural for other characters to die simply because we do not know them, but it is a tragedy when one of the soldiers (played by Vin Diesel) dies. In our research, we considered the effects of this on society.
