The Selected Titles project has developed a list of current popular titles to serve research libraries outside the United States as a collections development guide for English-language monographs. Visual Basic software was used to identify titles from the OCLC Online Union Catalog that are (1) held by at least ten research libraries, (2) published after 1990, and (3) published by any of the 50 publishers most frequently represented in the sample. The first quarterly publication, OCLC Selected Titles for University and Research Libraries, contains over 1,700 selected titles that facilitate acquisitions of English-language research works to enhance library collection.
