Included are the papers of Benjamin Parke, John Dumont, Charles Dewey, and Samuel Merrill, and materials on Vincennes and early Indiana. Parke's papers include his correspondence with James Brown and discuss Aaron Burr and the Burr Conspiracy, Republican politics, and James Wilkinson. Dumont's papers include correspondence while he served in the Indiana House, and a number of speeches. Dewey's papers are mostly from his years as U.S. District Attorney and focus on his official duties. Merrill's papers deal mainly with his tenure as president of the Indiana State Bank and the Madison and Indianapolis Rail Road Company. The remaining papers deal with Vincennes and early Indiana. Other topics include Samuel Baird's surveys of Vincennes and a summary of speeches made by William Henry Harrison in 1802 at his first Indian Council.
