Dewey's papers are mostly from his years as U.S. District Attorney and focus on his official duties. Merrill's papers deal mainly with his tenure as president of the Indiana State Bank and the Madison and Indianapolis Rail Road Company. The remaining papers deal with Vincennes and early Indiana.
