Abstract:

William Meyer was a member of the 200th Coast Artillery, which was made up of New Mexicans and sent to the Philippines in 1941. He later died in a Japanese prisoner of war camp. This collection contains items collected by Meyer's parents as they awaited his return from World War II. Collection consists of materials relating to the Pacific Theatre of World War II, particularly the activities of the 200th and 515th Coast Artillery, both composed of New Mexican men. Series I consists primarily of newspaper clippings and also includes copies of "The Charles Ilfeld Company Service Bulletin" (1936-1950). Series II consists primarily of copies of newspapers from Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico (1941-1945). Series III consists of scrapbooks of newspaper clippings from various New Mexican newspapers (1941-1945).
