Abstract:

"This collection of quotes confronts two social phenotypes that both invest uncommon energy in the organisation of things. Their eccentric modes of collecting go beyond ordinary consumerism but show two extremes of dealing with things: One -- the dandy -- is too special to care for serial, affordable, and mainstream products and develops the 'art of wearing a tie' as a means of protest. The other -- the homeless person -- is only rich in slang to describe the lack of necessary things that have to be collected on a daily basis. The quotes are not about persons, but on the agency that art and waste exert on them."
