Abstract:

Carl Sagan conducts a guided tour of the universe from clusters of galaxies to the Milky Way and Earth, and then discusses early scientific discoveries concerning the measurement of the earth's circumference and its spherical nature. The 1st episode ends with a journey through time from the Big Bang to the present. In the 2nd episode Sagan adresses the question of life and its origins by examining molecular biology, the Miller-Urey experiment and DNA in order to suggest that life in other worlds, evolves according to environmental conditions, just as it does on earth.
