Illustrations are wood engravings; with coloring applied to every other pair of facing pages.
The John C. Winston Co. bought out the stock of Henry T. Coates and Co. in 1904, and first began publishing Slovenly Peter in 1905, keeping the title in print until 1955-56. Cf. Lapides, p. 33-35. Henry T. Coates and Co. published a nearly identical edition of this text between 1895 and 1904 (as did it's predescessor, Porter & Coates, ca. 1894) including the Eastlake-style design on the cloth binding.
