Abstract:

The Soldier's personal film collection is a compendium of films originally collected, produced, or filmed by individual soldiers from circa 1916 to 1973. The collection consists of digitized copies of 147 films originally shot on 8mm or 16mm film. The collection includes both black and white films and color films. In some cases, films produced by the Army or commercial broadcast networks are included in the personal film collections. Some of the films in the General Duncan collection and the Neil Barkin collection contain graphic images that some may find objectionable. Among the persons appearing in the films are General George C. Marshall, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, General Douglas MacArthur, General Matthew Ridgway, General J. Lawton Collins, General William Westmoreland, General Maxwell Taylor, Sergeant Alvin C. York, President Woodrow Wilson, President Harry S. Truman, President Richard M. Nixon, President Gerald R. Ford, Henry Kissinger, General Charles de Gaulle, South Korean president Syngman Rhee, Joseph Stalin, Marshal Georgy Zhukov, Adolf Hitler, Emperor Hirohito, Benito Mussolini, and Joachim Ribbentrop.
