Abstract:

Presented by Eamonn Lawlor, The State of Europe provides an opportunity for discussion on important social and economic development in the European Union. The project presents an opportunity to examine key issues relating to European integration which have a significant impact on the daily lives of people throughout Europe. It also explores issues and events relating to the origins, growth and future development of the European Union. Twelve key themes are identified by academic consultants to the project. Each theme is illustrated with two reports that provide vivid insights into the present state of European integration and its future. These reports, shot at relevant locations throughout Europe, form the core material for a series of programs that examines the extraordinary rapid development and evolution of European integration since the Second World War and explores its potential.
