Abstract:

This book is aimed at doctors, medical students and other health professionals who view statistics as a necessary evil. It is not intended as a manual for those wishing to carry out their own statistical analyses beyond the simple summarising of data that might be required for a clinical meeting. Rather, it sets out to explain the prinicples of statistcs that must be understood in order to read journals and practise clinical disciplines competently, and it does this without using any mathematics beyond the level needed for school leavers. (Preface pages vi-vii).
