Abstract:

In the spring of 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt and poet John Muir spent three days together wandering through Yosemite. Out of this brief encounter emerged the philosophies that continue to shape this country's attitude toward the natural environment and its relationship to the human community. This docudrama is more than a contemporary portrait of a place that is arguably the most beautiful in America. It captures the spirit of the early conservation movement by focusing on its two most compelling figures, John Muir and Theodore Roosevelt.
