Abstract:

Far Eastern storytellers used the tangram as the basis for many of their tales. These draw upon that tradition to weave 20 "puzzle-stories" that can be told using paper, flannelboard, overhead transparencies, or other common materials. The simple shapes can be used again and again to tell a delightful range of tales. For teachers and librarians who like to involve children in their storytelling sessions, suggestions are offered that work well with this method.
